How did the G8AMC get started by David (M0TPT)
So how did the club get started, I hear you ask; well, David (M0TPT), the original founder of the club, based on the interest of Radio friendship, and sharing of knowledge.
David started his radio journey in 2018, operating on the 11m meter band. During a QSO, someone suggested that he should look into studying for his Amateur radio license. David did, and by September 2018, the same year, David has his M6 call. When we asked David how he found the Exam and the process, he told us, “it wasn’t so much the learning. I found that the biggest hurdle was actually the fear of failure. Failure was the thing that was going to sabotage any success; if it wasn’t for the support from my friends, I think it may have taken a few attempts. But with the help of Essex Ham, it all worked out.”
Later that year, David continued his radio journey and obtained his Intermediate call sign in December 2018 with the help of the Harlow Radio Club G6UT.
It was not until October 2020 that David decided to study for the Full license. David found self-learning difficult but successfully passed his Exam on the 3rd attempt on 08-Jan-2021. David is passionate about all things Radio. David told us his love for radio started with the 11m bands, and it still is.
